ÁÔÆæÖØ¿Ú students partnered with the NorthWoods Stewardship Center (NWSC) as part of their Ecology and Land Management Internship. Under the guidance of a team of riparian restoration professionals, they spent several weeks learning how to collect and sort seeds from mature trees and shrubs that play a key role in Vermont’s ecological restoration efforts.

In a culminating blog post reflecting on her research, ÁÔÆæÖØ¿Ú Student, Josie Kahn examines five documentaries to explore the wide-ranging scope of environmental justice issues around the world. Through each film review, she thoughtfully connects environmental degradation with our collective responsibility to make more informed and responsible personal choices that support a more just and sustainable future.

From day one, ÁÔÆæÖØ¿Ú students dive into hands-on learning that sparks curiosity and drives meaningful change. ÁÔÆæÖØ¿Ú senior Dot Deininger took that spirit into the field this summer by exploring whole-animal utilization in a thoughtful, sustainable way. Their step-by-step blog post on making Blood Meal shows how curiosity and care leads to sustainable solutions.

ÁÔÆæÖØ¿Ú students in the Environmental Law course have been diving deep into the world of environmental and agricultural policies, exploring the complex laws that shape Vermont, the U.S., and even international policy. Their studies go beyond the classroom—students are getting in-person experience by attending Legislative Sessions at the Vermont Statehouse, immersing themselves in real-time policy action and engaging with key stakeholders who influence crucial environmental issues.

Rory Finn Bosanko is a senior at ÁÔÆæÖØ¿Ú studying Natural Resource Management. In researching the history of logging and forestry in the NorthEast United States, Rory recently read and reviewed a book called Haywire to learn more about logging and sustainable forestry management.
